Dine To Donate At The Applebee's In Pennsville On 06-19-07

The Deepwater Fire Department and Pennsville Fire & Rescue went to the Applebee's in Pennsville on 06-19-07 at 1200 hrs. The departments were there to setup and display trucks for the Dine To Donate Fundraiser. Applebee's is a very neighborhood oriented business and was more than willing to help the fire departments. This day was also Applebee's 1 year anniversary. Applebee's donated 10% of all meal receipts that were accompanied by a pre-distributed flyer to the departments. Engine 7-1, Field Piece 7-4, Quint 5-6, and Field Piece 5-4 were on location until 2100 hours giving tours of the trucks, showing how the equipment works, and handing out fire prevention information. The event was a huge success and ended up being the largest Dine To Donate of any Applebee's on the East Coast. Click For Photos....

Kent Ave. Working Building Fire 06-08-07

On June 8, 2007 at approx. 1038 a.m. Station 7, Station 5, Ladder 6, Engine 11, NCC Rescue 20, and Squad 5 were dispatched to a working building fire on Kent Avenue. Chief 5-10A was on scene and upgraded the assignment and requested additional resources. The fire building is a 5 story retirement apartment building that was still under construction. Roofers applying tar accidentally set the roof on fire. Temperature and humidity were both in the upper 90's this day causing concern for firefighter safety. While responding to this call, ambulance 5-8 was involved in a minor motor vehicle crash. Pennsville Police and back up units were dispatched to the MVC involving the ambulance. Only minor injuries resulted from the accident and everyone is ok.  Click For More....
